About Ellen Ettinger

I am honored to help people navigate the challenging pathway of parenting, and I am honored to be referred to as “The Go-To Expert in Parenting!”

There are so many aspects to handle with children. When I talk about parenting, I don’t only focus on what the children need. I pay a lot of attention to needs of the parents, too.

If you are feeling stressed, I understand you!

If you are feeling tired, I understand you!

If you are feeling confused, I understand you!

If you have questions, I understand you!

If you have concerns about how to establish a comfortable work-life balance, I understand you!

I love helping mothers get rid of the stress, and reach their full vitality and potential so they can relax and enjoy their best life.

As you may have guessed, in addition to being recognized as an expert in parenting, I am a proud mother!

I remember the stress and challenges when my daughter was young! I am happy to say that my daughter is now a 27-year-old adult.  Having made it through the pathway of seeing her from a newborn, toddler, preschooler, school-age, teenager, and more, I am delighted to have raised a resilient, strong, loving, happy daughter. As a parent, I remember the challenges that occur at all the different ages and stages.

I lived through the regular, typical challenges of motherhood, but I also experienced two additional stresses:

One is that I lived through breast cancer when my daughter was growing up. (I am a breast cancer survivor (11 1/2 years, hurray!) and I know how important it is to have reserves of resilience, to have a strong capacity to “unpack” and handle stress, and to plan for myself and my family. I am delighted to report that I am now in excellent health.

The second challenge is that when I gave birth to my daughter I was in the process of a pregnancy-retaliation lawsuit that I had filed against my employers because they had removed me from my work assignment when I became pregnant. I was a full-time tenured professor at a university. I worked hard to show my administrators that working mothers are responsible, dependable and reliable workers, but they would not accept this. The lawsuit went all the way to Federal Court, and a jury unanimously delivered a verdict in my favor – finding “wanton and reckless” conduct against me by the university, and by my administrators. I was able to manage the dilemma of work-life balance, and a lawsuit, and no one was going to tell me that I couldn’t achieve that!

As a parent, I remember the stresses of work-life balance, and the challenges that occur at all the different ages, and stages, as children grow up.  (As a client who started to work with me asked: what age is easy, and when do we feel we are getting it right?) I can share my information to make your pathway easier, and to help you feel empowered, too.

There is an age-old question that people rarely answer: can a working mother “Have it all?” I say “Yes!” You just have to have the proper systems and processes in place. I am happy to discuss the strategies and steps you can take to change your life from “just surviving” to “thriving” with energy, joy and happiness.
